Skymark Packaging

Today we were called to Skymark Packaging on the industrial estate. a 15 pump shout. The building was destroyed, even though great efforts were made to save it. As a fire-fighter I would like to thank all the crews that attended, including our neighbouring services. As an ex-employee and Leominster local I would like to express my sadness on the devastation to this company, and the effect it will have on the Skymark community.

  1. It was a sad day for Leominster, a lot of people are now now sure where ther future lies. I hope, for the sake of those working at Skymart that the company re-builds and moves forward. I know it was a shock a few years a go when they closed the other site (Old BOCM) lets hope for all concerned this can be the start of a new era.

  2. It was a scary fire. Thank God no one was injured. I wonder why their fire fighting equipment didn’t work. I hope people there won’t lose their jobs.

    • Thanks for the comments, the fire-fighting equipment available to the staff at Skymark was not able to cope with the intensity of the fire. It became obvious to those of us fighting the fire that the building was lost. Our concerns were for the tanks of chemicals and the buildings surrounding. If the employees on site had stayed around to fight the fire there may well have been serious injury or fatalities. Fortunately the proceedure in place by the owners of the company were stuck to by the staff and everyone was ok.
